Now that the holiday that celebrates the “world of the dead” has come and gone it brings me to this week’s discussion. Are spirits real? And can we communicate with them? Oh yes my friend, they are real, very real. Should we be frightened of them? no, of course not. They cannot hurt you. We only fear the things we cannot understand. We fear the dark because we cannot see in the dark. But once the light is turned on most of the fears we have, vanish. That is the way with understanding spirits, the dead, and their role in our lives. The more we understand, the less we fear. I do not say that I have no fears. Nothing is worse than the anticipated fright while watching a scary movie or having someone jump out and surprise you, but that is all. So in retrospect, I would like to address the subject of communicating with the departed.

When thinking about spirits, if you look at the reality of the situation it will take on a whole new perspective. The spirits are people, that’s all, people. They are just the same as they once were when they were alive on the earth, except now they only have a body of light and energy. It is no different meeting a spirit than meeting someone in the grocery store or on the street. But think of the things that we push away in our mind. If they are just ordinary people what do we have to fear? They cannot hurt us. They cannot physically touch us. Movie ghosts are not the reality. And if you spend any time reading the accounts regarding those that have passed on or died and returned. They usually have a kinder, more loving nature. The spirits that were evil on the earth are pretty selfish individuals, so caught up in themselves, that they spend their time thinking and worrying about themselves and not us. No, they have their own issues. They have a lot to work  for themselves so they probably don’t even think about us. That is okay with me. They are not worth our time spent in worrying about that issue..

If we look at this aspect we can put it into perspective. Take séances and mediums for example. I do not say that no one can claim to communicate with the dead. I for one understand that some people understand how and it is very natural to them. But we must ask ourselves, to what purpose are they communicating with us. Many that deal in the occult and dark arts are doing it for money. What is the motivation? Spirits do not need money or material things. Actually it is very unimportant to them. As people pass on relationships become the most important thing.

Let’s take an old movie séance for example. What purpose would there be to ring a bell or turn off a light. Maybe just to know they are there. It is important to someone grieving a loved one to know they are still there. But all of us can have that comfort. Just pray, close your eyes and you can receive comfort. We have been promised that. Use it. But remember that there is no purpose in many of the things that the commercial aspect of mediums can tell you.

One word of caution. Do not ever let someone invite a spirit to enter their bodies. If this is real the only spirits that will do this are part of Satan’s host. They gave up their right to have a mortal body so they want ours, but they have no power to do so unless you let them. We need to always remember when dealing with Satan’s host that they do not want to make you happy! Quite the opposite, so don’t waste your time with them. Spend your time learning about things that will improve your life and make you happy, things of light.
